Birthday Bash

Although not officially 34 until Tuesday, we took the weekend as an ideal opportunity for a little get-together in honour of my impending birthday. Cocktails for the adults and, as you can see here, jelly for three very satisfied younger attendants.

It was the only time all three of them stayed still long enough to be photographed. Once the jelly had been consumed (a process that required a span of time so short we'd have to ask Steven Hawking to contextualise it), they were off again, a blur of motion. Good thing the cocktails were strong.

I invented the "Sort of Mule", which is basically a standard Mule (Vodka, Lime Juice, Ginger Beer) made fabulous and new, by the simple expedient of rootling around the back of the drinks cabinet (such as it is) and adding the first two things that came to hand. Which happened to be Apricot Brandy and Blackcurrant Liquer. The resulting concoction was pronounced splendid by all who tasted it. I claim the patent.
